This January I got the opportunity to photograph Colin & Charmaine's wedding. It was a unique experience for me, as I taught both of them in high school, and it was a privilege to witness what mature, incredible, people they continue to be. We started our photoshoot down by the Mendel Art Gallery, and it was a coooooold day (-25 plus windchill) - it felt about -40. They braved the cold, though, and the result was a magical winter wedding background for their formal pictures. From there we headed over to the Agriculture building to take a few indoor family pictures and snapped a few more outside on campus before heading to the Guitar & Amp store on 20th for their formal wedding: store by day and venue by evening. All in all it was a great day and I felt privileged to be part of it.
I had a great time photographing Meghan and Dustin. These were "just because" couple photographs, which I thought was a great idea. They asked if we could try a couple different locations to take advantage of the setting sun and I am glad we did - we got the golden glow twice! First at President Murray Park and next at Gabriel Dumont Park, where the sun was finally setting. The river was just starting to ice up and was so scenic. Megan and Dustin were so much fun to work with. This was my first "winter" shoot of the season. Thank goodness it was only -1 (the next day it was closer to -20). I had so much fun with these two. Rachel had said that they really liked photographs sets in nature so I suggested we head over to Furdale Dog Park and take their maternity photos there. I like that location because there is a variety of different backdrops: prairie, woods, and river scenes. These two didn't mind that we had lots of dogs run up to us and say hello, and we provided lots of entertainment for dog walkers! I know that choosing a location for your photography shoot can be a difficult one, so I created a catalogue of Saskatoon spaces to help you decide where you'd like to be photographed. I love to photograph in new spaces too, so feel free to suggest them!
